One Day by David Nicolls movie trailer.

edit: I replaced it with the UK version as it’s less spoilery than this one! And it does sound like she’s trying to do a Yorkshire accent at times… but then ends up posh again xD It’s hard to tell!

One Day will be a perfect summer film; it looks so cute. However, it really bothers me that they didn’t ask Anne Hathaway to learn to do a Yorkshire accent as it just perpetuates the image that everyone in the UK (not even England, THE UK!) has a really posh upper-class London accent (spoilers: WE DON’T. I don’t and I’m from London!). No wonder Americans cannot understand Cheryl Cole. They never get to hear regional accents! Emma’s meant to be a working class Yorkshire lass. I think that her adorable Yorkshire-ness was a big part of her identity and her character and it’s a shame that they made her yet another generic American portrayal of an English person. Anyway, I tend to complain about people who complain about film adaptations so this is all I have to say. It won’t ruin it for me. I’m still really excited to see the film and I think the casting is perfect (ish).
